Human capital training is a central part of my academic work at Universidad Católica de la Santísima Concepción (UCSC), where I am Profesora Auxiliar in the Department of Industrial Engineering since March 2024. I teach Mathematical Modelling (Modelamiento Matemático, IN1061C), Forecasting Models (Modelos de Pronósticos, IN1091C), Forecasting and Multivariate Analysis (IN1463C) and Optimization (IN1532C) in the Industrial Civil Engineering program, with 12 teaching modules per semester and between 90 and 190 students per semester (2024-2026). Before joining UCSC, I taught Operations Research at Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María (2023-2024), Economics at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV, 2023) and Game Theory for graduate and undergraduate students as teaching assistant at PUCV (2019-2024).
My research training integrates operations research and game theory (bilevel optimization, Stackelberg and Nash bargaining models, stochastic programming) applied to microgrids, electricity markets and the water-energy-mining nexus. I completed my Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering at PUCV (2019-2024) under Dr. Felipe Feijoo, with a research stay at the University of South Florida (Oct. 2022 - Mar. 2023) under Dr. Tapas K. Das, where I developed multi-objective methods based on Nash bargaining.
Direct human capital training:
Supervision of undergraduate thesis and capstone projects, Industrial Civil Engineering, UCSC:
Hans Schulz (2025), research project for the Industrial Civil Engineering degree (profesor guía).
Deric Osses (2025), degree project (profesor guía).
Gonzalo Cuevas (2022), Linear programming for civil engineering problems: a review, School of Civil Engineering, PUCV (undergraduate thesis mentoring).
[Agregar aquí otros memoristas o estudiantes de proyecto de investigación que hayas guiado en 2024-2026]
Thesis committee member (informante), Industrial Civil Engineering degree examinations, UCSC: Paul Sáez (2024), Diego Morales (2024), Javier Avilés (2025), Camila Arratia (2025), Miguel Reyes (2025), Ruth Medel (2025), Camila Cayumil (2025).
Supervision of professional internships (Práctica Profesional Tutelada, IN2542C), UCSC, 2026, as collaborating professor.
Research project leadership with student participation: Principal Investigator of the internal project DIREG 10/2024 "Comunidades microrredes resistentes al cambio climático: modelando desafíos de inversión bajo variabilidad renovable y escasez hídrica" (UCSC, 2024-2025), which trained students in bilevel optimization and renewable uncertainty modelling. Participation as national associated researcher in the international network RES-JUST (ANID FOVI250263, PUCV-University of Zagreb-University of Liège, 2026-2027), which includes co-supervision and training activities with European partners.
My dissemination and transfer activities connect operations research and game theory with decision-making in energy and water systems. I am a member of the Local Organizing Committee of the 4th Latin American Conference on Sustainable Development of Energy, Water and Environment Systems (LA SDEWES), Viña del Mar, Chile (January 2024), which gathered researchers from Latin America, Europe and North America. I collaborate with the SDEWES network (University of Zagreb) and with the University of Liège through the ANID project FOVI250263 RES-JUST, in which I participate as national associated researcher (2026-2027).
My research results have been presented at the Center for Transportation and Logistics of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT, Boston, 2023), and at leading international conferences: INFORMS Annual Meeting (Anaheim 2021, Indianapolis 2022, Phoenix 2023, Atlanta 2025), the International Federation of Operational Research Societies conference (IFORS, Santiago 2023), SDEWES (Dubrovnik 2021) and LA SDEWES (Viña del Mar 2024, Cartagena de Indias 2025).
In terms of transfer, I lead a research line on investment decisions in microgrids and desalination for water-stressed mining regions (UCSC DIREG 10/2024; manuscript under review in Applied Energy), oriented to the water-energy-mining nexus of Chile, and I have participated as researcher in ANID Fondecyt projects 11181176 (ENTER-1.5N, energy-water-food nexus, 2020-2021) and 1221894 (100% renewable energy systems with Power-to-X, 2022-2023), whose results have informed national decarbonization pathway assessments for Chile. [Confirma tu rol exacto en 1221894 y 11181176; en tu CV dice "Project Director and Researcher", que no corresponde: eras investigadora/tesista, no directora.]
