2011 - At present
Since 2010 to date a total of 14 undergraduate thesis, 6 master theses, including one thesis in cotutelle with Innsbruck University in Austria and 3 Phd thesis, all on topics related to the biological control of insects. At the moment at my laboratory I am currently supervising another three phd students in cotutell between Univeristy of Talca and Agrocampus Ouest and University of Rennes1 in France, all under cotutelle agreement. Also I am currently supervising a Master student. At the same time during this time I have leaded the creation of the Master in Applied Ecology (project started in 2012) and have acted as Director of the program for the 5 years last years. During my time in Universidad de Talca, I have also sponsored and worked with three postdocs, through Fondecyt Grants and one Millennium Nucleus Grant. Two of these young researchers are still associated to my lab through different projects. I also am responsible for the undergraduate teaching for Agronomy students, Bioinformatics and Forestry students among others. My lectures include Agroecology, Biological Control and Population Genetics. My postgraduate teaching includes Biological control, Ecology of productive systems and Research Methods for Phd and Master students. I have also Organized two workshops at my University in collaboration with French Colleagues on “Tracking dispersion and trophic resources exploitation by natural enemies in the field”, with student coming from several Universities from Chile.
During many years I have participated in many instances with primary and secondary students to bring science to schools. I have given many talks on biodiversity Ecosystem services and dyservices as well as Insects in general and biological control.
