Premios y Distinciones

  •   The Horace O. Lanza Scholarship

    The Horace O. Lanza

    Estados Unidos, 2016

According to his grandson, Horace O. Lanza wanted to be an attorney; but at age 20, with a degree from the University of Buffalo he was too young to sit for the state bar exam. He decided to bide his time for a year while working at his brother winemaking business in New York--thus began a life long passion. Lanza moved to California in 1913, and established himself as a leader in the California wine industry. Lanza was one of the few producers of wine during Prohibition, producing sacramental wines and grape concentrates. Upon Repeal, Lanza bought Italian Vineyard, which he built up and later sold to Garrett & Co. Lanza remained active in the industry until his death in 1983 at the age of 102. Lanza encouraged many in the industry to pursue their eduation in the wine industry and to attend UCD. This endowment was established in 1987 by John L. Bree, in honor of his grandfather. It is his desire to support scholarships and research assistants in viticulture.

  •   The David E. Gallo award

    The David E. Gallo

    Chile, 2016

David Gallo, son of Ernest Gallo, passed away in 1997. David son, Chris established this endowment to honor the memory of his father. The Gallo legacy of philanthropy continues through this generous gift. This scholarship is available to all V&E students in good standing, including incoming or continuing community students and other transfer students, with no residency restrictions. This gift may also be used to help students participate in internships, special meetings, programs or activities supplemental to their regular academic program.

  •   HENRY A. JASTRO GRADUATE RESEARCH AWARD

    University of California - Davis

    Chile, 2016

Henry A. Jastro Graduate Research Awards are awarded to outstanding graduate students in recognition of their potential to carry out research projects related to the mission of the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences

  •   Katherine Esau Graduate Fellowship

    University of California - Davis

    Estados Unidos, 2016

The Katherine Esau Graduate Summer Fellowship will be awarded to an advanced (fourth year and beyond) graduate student, with a Ph. D. as degree objective, whose dissertation research indicates exceptional promise for elucidating an understanding of plant structure as it relates to tissue-, organ- and/or organism-level development, evolution and/or function
