Formación de Capital Humano

I have contributed to the training of new professionals in clinical neuropsychology, cognitive neuroscience, and dementia research through the supervision of professional placements and postgraduate dissertation projects in Chile and England.

In Chile, during 2012 and 2013, I supervised professional placements at the Unidad de Neurología Cognitiva y Demencias, Departamento de Neurología, Hospital del Salvador, and the Departamento de Ciencias Neurológicas Norte, Facultad de Medicina, Universidad de Chile. This training focused on clinical neuropsychological assessment, particularly the evaluation of people with cognitive decline, mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimer’s disease, frontotemporal dementia, and other neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric conditions.

In England, during 2022 and 2023, I co-supervised two Master’s dissertation projects at the University of Sheffield. These projects examined white matter hyperintensities in healthy young adults with genetic risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease, and the association between impaired insight and brain atrophy rates in Alzheimer’s disease and other states of cognitive decline. The students had backgrounds in Psychology and Medicine, respectively, and are currently working in the NHS (the National Health Service, the publicly funded healthcare system of the United Kingdom) as a Psychology Assistant and Medical Doctor.

Overall, these activities reflect my contribution to human capital training in clinical neuropsychology, dementia assessment, cognitive neuroscience, and translational neuroscience, supporting professionals who have continued to develop clinical, academic, and research careers in Chile and the United Kingdom.

Difusión y Transferencia

I have contributed to dissemination and knowledge transfer through peer-reviewed publications, academic teaching, clinical training, public communication, and the development of educational initiatives.

A key part of my dissemination work has involved the development, validation, and adaptation of neuropsychological and functional assessment tools for Spanish-speaking and Chilean clinical populations. In chronological order, my first-author publications on the Technology–Activities of Daily Living Questionnaire (2012), the Addenbrooke’s Cognitive Examination-Revised (2012), and the Test Your Memory-Spanish version (2014) have supported clinical practice and research in Chile, while also achieving international visibility in the fields of dementia, cognitive assessment, and functional evaluation.

In March 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, I created an academic website to share my academic activities and disseminate work in neuropsychology and dementia research. Through this platform, I have communicated Chilean neuropsychology to both national and international audiences, with posts written in Spanish and English, and shared my experience of doctoral studies in England to encourage other South American researchers to pursue postgraduate training abroad.

In 2025, I created and ran the English Social Club, a workshop-style initiative designed to teach English to Chilean learners and support access to language skills that may facilitate academic, professional, and international opportunities.

In 2026, I am starting my own laboratory as a space for research, training, collaboration, and dissemination in clinical neuropsychology, cognitive neuroscience, neuroimaging, and dementia.

Overall, these activities reflect my commitment to transferring scientific, clinical, and educational knowledge to professional, academic, and community settings in Chile and internationally.

Premios y Distinciones

  •   Bristol PLUS Award 2016-2020

    UNIVERSITY OF BRISTOL

    Reino Unido, 2020

Award provided by the University of Bristol to outstanding students who successfully manage to show perseverance, resilience, self-reflection, critical thinking, and academic integrity, among other valuable skills, throughout the duration of their programmes. Accomplishment achieved as a PhD student by publishing a systematic review on neural correlates of altered insight in frontotemporal dementia in the scientific journal ‘NeuroImage: Clinical’, acting as a reviewer for other peer-reviewed journals, and completing the Bristol Futures Innovation and Enterprise course.
