Training of Professionals in Mathematics Education
I have contributed to the training of professionals in the area of ??mathematics education, creating a multidisciplinary team of young professionals, with specific skills for work in education. Currently, the CMM Education Laboratory has a team of approximately 25 professionals (teachers, social scientists, engineers, programmers, graphic designers) and full-time researchers. We also have an internship program for undergraduate students.
Teacher Professional Development Programs
Suma y Sigue: Matemática en Línea. This online program was developed through a colaboration the Ministry of Education starting in 2014. It currently has 17 courses for primary, middle and secondary school teachers. It has been taught since 2015, and currently it has an enrollement of about 1500 teachers per year.
Diplomas in Mathematics Education for Teachers. These two programs are aimed to teachers that teach math in 1st-4th grade and 5th-8th grade, and has a duration of 250 hours. Currently these programs are being taught to about 60 teachers financed by the Ministry of Education.
Diploma in Mathematics Education for teacher educators. This Postgraduate Diploma is aimed to professionals who participate in the training of primary school teachers and has a duration of 230 hours. This diploma was taught through an alliance with the Ministry of Education to teacher trainers from all over Chile (2017-2018).
