Líneas de Investigación

I performed doctoral studies in the field of Physiological Sciences at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and my post-doctoral studies at the University of Auvergne in France. I am currently a Titular Professor at the University of Santiago of Chile where I develop different research topics. In the first place, I research the Neurobiology of Chronic Pain, where I study the mechanisms involved in the initiation and maintenance of chronic pain. In this topic, I identified new pharmacological targets that could be used for new drugs or new pharmaceutical formulations to relieve chronic pain, and I had development new chronic pain models. Additionally, I worked on the development and characterization of nano and micro polymeric particles to improve the effectiveness of drugs, bioavailability and decrease side effects of drugs loaded with these particles. At the moment, I presented two innovative patents
