Technology Transfer
2015-2016 Medivation Inc. -Fundacion Ciencia y Vida Research Program. "Development of gamma-carboline analogues of latrepirdine for the treatment of Parkinson´s Disease and Related Synucleinopathies". Based in our discoveries about latrepirdine-induced degradation of alpha-synuclein protein in neuronal cells, this program lead to the developmen and discovery of several analogues of latrepirdine with alpha-synuclein degrading activities. Some of these analogues were pharmacologically characterized and tested in preclinical assays on in vivo models of syucleinopathies. A project for a Phase I Clinical Trial sponsored by Medivation Inc. and developed by Northwestern University was reached with one of these compounds (Prot#MDV1634-04: A Phase 1, Multicenter, Randomized, Double Blind, Placebo-Controlled, Safety and Dose FInding Biomarker Study of MDV1634 in Patients with Parkinson´s Disease).
